Ellie McCarthy - Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre Instructor
If someone had told me in high school that I would one day be a fitness instructor, I would have laughed. My fitness journey really started in graduate school where I was tired and had 30 extra pounds that I wanted to lose. A friend suggested that a 4 miler training program might be just what I needed both mentally and physically. I fell in love with running and soon began to adapt my diet to fit my new found health. My new outlook was a breath of fresh air.
Fast forward six years, I had just had my first son and decided to take some time away from my work as a medical researcher at Yale. Running for hours didn’t seem to fit in my new life as a new mom, but I was determined to stay fit and put my health as a priority. A friend invited me a Stroller Strides class. I loved the intense workout and the connection that I made with the other moms. The instructors inspired me and I found myself in the best shape I had ever been in. A little voice in my head kept telling me that I might make a good instructor. Last fall, encouraged by my franchisee in CT, I decided to take the plunge and become a Fit4Mom instructor myself. What a fabulous and challenging journey it has been so far!
After teaching stroller strides for several months in CT, my husband was transferred to MD. I couldn't wait to get involved in Fit4mom wherever we settled! I am so blessed that Danyette has invited me to be part of the Fit4mom Howard County team. I truly believe in the Fit4Mom program and the health, support, and connection it brings to both rookie and veteran moms and exercisers. I look forward to being with you on your fitness journey!
