Danyette Young - FIT4MOM Howard County Owner

Danyette is the proud owner of Fit4Mom Howard County. She has three beautiful children: Matthew, who is currently attending Stevenson University, Kailey, who is in middle school and enjoys dancing in a travel dance company, and Christopher who is just a little ray of sunshine and loves working out with his mommy at Stroller Strides. Before becoming an owner, Danyette worked as a Stroller Strides instructor and running coach. She loves to travel with her husband, Lucas, and any and all things Disney. Danyette recently combined two of her passions by completing the Disney Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World (twice). Fitness and Disney….what could be better!!!

Danyette is so excited to take on this role as the new owner of Fit4Mom Howard County as she just purchased the franchise in August 2016!!!! Her reason for becoming an owner?! "I have been a part of the Fit4mom franchise since 2005. I joined shortly after my daughter was born as a way to stay in shape and meet other moms. I have always enjoyed all that Stroller Strides and Fit4Mom provides for moms and I am proud to say that I am still connected with the moms from that group way back then:) Fit4Mom is a community for moms in every stage of motherhood all around the country and I love that I get to be part of and now lead this community in Howard County. I LOVE the Fit4Mom philosophy “Strength for Motherhood” and I am so excited to work together to strengthen our Fit4Mom community through fitness, support, friendship, encouragement, and FUN!!"

Ellie McCarthy - Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre Instructor

If someone had told me in high school that I would one day be a fitness instructor, I would have laughed. My fitness journey really started in graduate school where I was tired and had 30 extra pounds that I wanted to lose. A friend suggested that a 4 miler training program might be just what I needed both mentally and physically. I fell in love with running and soon began to adapt my diet to fit my new found health. My new outlook was a breath of fresh air.

Fast forward six years, I had just had my first son and decided to take some time away from my work as a medical researcher at Yale. Running for hours didn’t seem to fit in my new life as a new mom, but I was determined to stay fit and put my health as a priority. A friend invited me a Stroller Strides class. I loved the intense workout and the connection that I made with the other moms. The instructors inspired me and I found myself in the best shape I had ever been in. A little voice in my head kept telling me that I might make a good instructor. Last fall, encouraged by my franchisee in CT, I decided to take the plunge and become a Fit4Mom instructor myself. What a fabulous and challenging journey it has been so far!

After teaching stroller strides for several months in CT, my husband was transferred to MD. I couldn't wait to get involved in Fit4mom wherever we settled! I am so blessed that Danyette has invited me to be part of the Fit4mom Howard County team. I truly believe in the Fit4Mom program and the health, support, and connection it brings to both rookie and veteran moms and exercisers. I look forward to being with you on your fitness journey!

Louisa Nieves - Playgroup Captain (PGC)

Hi, I’m Louisa! Mom to a sweet toddler, Oona (2). Before I became a mom, I was a pre-school teacher. I love dancing, working out, cooking, baking, and coffee!

I grew up in both Minnesota and Guam, and since getting married to my husband, Paul, military life has taken our family across the country from Georgia to Washington state, and now here, to Maryland. I joined Stroller Strides when we moved to Columbia last summer (2017). I immediately fell in love with the combination of a great workout, the community of moms to connect with, and what I like to think of as a built in play date!

I absolutely love being a part of this Fit4Mom village, and as Playgroup Captain, I’m excited to plan fun activities to do with our kiddos!

Rachel Rubino - Body Back Instructor

I'm Rachel, mom to Vivian (4) and Samantha (2). I found Fit4Mom when I was on maternity leave after having my second child, and started with Body Back. Running was my main form of exercise, and I had never done group fitness classes before. I was immediately hooked on the combination of getting a great workout while connecting with other moms. I lost weight and gained so much strength and confidence, and continued participating in Body Back sessions after I went back to work. In May 2016 I moved from Baltimore City to Howard County, and began attending the Saturday Stroller Strides classes, which my girls and I both love. I couldn't get Body Back out of my mind, however, and I kept bugging Danyette about starting it in Howard County. After a few months she approached me about helping her launch the program as an instructor, and I jumped at the opportunity. I am thrilled to help bring this amazing program to our area, and cannot wait to help other moms carve out time in their busy lives to make their physical and mental health and wellness a priority.

Sarah Matthews - Stroller Strides Instructor

Hi, I’m Sarah! I am a wife of Khari and mother of 4 amazing girls (Talia, Zora, Isabella, & Bebe-Anna). I accidentally discovered Stroller Strides during the summer of 2017 while trying to attend a Mommy & Me Yoga class. I saw a group of mamas warming up, so I assumed it was the yoga class. Danyette came right over, introduced herself, and told me that I wasn’t wearing the right shoes (I was wearing Birkenstocks). I explained to her that I thought this was a yoga class and we both laughed. Danyette educated me about FIT4MOM and invited me back again. I felt at home instantly and welcomed into the FIT4MOM Village. I loved that I could get in a great workout with baby in tow, so I signed up for the membership, and the rest is history.

I have had the pleasure of attending both Stroller Strides and Body Back classes, and I am in love with both programs. I have been pushed to do workouts that I didn’t think I could do. I have gained confidence, stamina, perseverance, and a new family with the mamas in my village. I’m so grateful for what Danyette, Ellie, and Rachel have done for me that I wanted to help give back to the FIT4MOM Howard County community the same way they have given back to me. I am honored and excited to join the FIT4MOM Howard County team.
